Bekhorot 21: words to know
- אִם תִּימְצֵי לוֹמַר (im timtzei lomar): if you wish to say; even granting that. Used to advance an argument by momentarily conceding a premise about an animal discharging.
- מִקְצָת הַיּוֹם כְּכוּלּוֹ (miktzat hayom kekhulo): part of a day is considered like the whole day. Suggested as the underlying dispute regarding whether an animal can give birth within its first year.
- מְחוּסַּר זְמַן (meḥusar zeman): an animal whose fit time has not yet arrived. Refers to a newborn animal younger than eight days entering the pen for tithing.
- אַדְּרַבָּה (aderabba): on the contrary. Used to challenge a derivation by suggesting it should be made from general sacrifices instead.
