Bekhorot 53: three things to remember

1. Animal tithe was abolished without the Temple so people would not inadvertently misuse sacred meat while waiting for blemishes.
2. Peace offerings cannot be included under the tithing rod, because the tithe only applies to animals not yet sanctified.
3. Sheep and goats combine for animal tithes under the biblical term flock, but animals born in different years cannot combine.
