- פְּסִיק רֵישֵׁיהּ (pesik reisheih): an inevitable prohibited consequence of an unintentional action. Rabbi Shimon admits an unintentional act is forbidden if it inevitably causes prohibition.
- דָּבָר שֶׁאֵין מִתְכַּוֵּין (davar she'ein mitkavvein): an unintentional act resulting in forbidden labor. The Gemara debates whether Rav and Rabbi Yosei ben HaMeshullam prohibit unintentional actions.
- כִּלְאַחַר יָד (kile'aḥar yad): in an unusual, backhanded manner. Rav permits clearing hair on Yom Tov because it is performed backhandedly.
- קׇדְשֵׁי בֶּדֶק הַבַּיִת (kadshei vedek habayit): items consecrated for Temple maintenance rather than sacrifice. Suggested as a category for the red heifer to explain shearing restrictions.
- שְׁמַע מִינַּהּ (shema minah): conclude from it; deduce from this. Used to confirm the halakhic inference that plucking hair to see a blemish is permitted ab initio.
